Gonçalo Fernandes is the Senior Director leading Emerging Technology & Design at Etisalat Digital, a business unit of Etisalat helping to drive digital transformation by enabling enterprises and governments become smarter through the use of the latest technologies.

He has over fifteen years of global ICT experience, with extensive expertise in helping customers to deliver value by using emerging technologies and digital services innovation underpinned by strong marketing, commercial and business management capabilities.

Before joining Etisalat, Gonçalo was the Head of IoT and M2M at Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Company PJSC (du) leading the strategy definition and execution for du’s IoT and M2M portfolio, partnerships and platforms for the enterprise segment. Prior to joining the region in 2014, Gonçalo was responsible for Cloud, Vertical Services and Alliances in Portugal Telecom.

Gonçalo is also currently a member of the European Blockchain Council a vehicle to prepare and launch EU-wide blockchain applications for both public and private sectors.

He holds a Business degree from the Universidade Católica of Lisbon and completed several executive programs at INSEAD business school.
